Meet the Chef
Chef Solomon Johnson is a culinary enthusiast who got his start
at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. After refining his skills and pallet he moved on to work at Jones, a top-notch brunch destination for STARR RESTAURANTS. He moved to Oakland California in 2013 where he landed an amazing job at Bluestem Brasserie, a hot trendy space in downtown San Francisco on Yerba Buena Lane.
Chef Solomon Johnson soon made his independent launch into the east bay catering world shortly after leaving Bluestem. He started Clean Cut Catering LLC a small catering company that provided meal plans and dietary advisory for families and professional athletes.
He also helped launch one of Oaklands first Cold Press Juice cafes. Pairing the juice combinations with artisan handcrafted VEGETARIAN sandwiches and seasonal salads OAKLAND JUICE & COMPANY was a neighborhood favorite in Jack London Square.
The Chef is currently the chef and owner of THE BUSDOWN with his partner and Chef/ Owner Michael Woods. The Bussdown is a PAN AFRICAN FOOD PROGRAM that specializes in traditional pan african food products presented in new and untraditional ways. Our food is available to the greater Oakland area via DOORDASH, CHOWNOW, & UBEREATS.
The Chef is also hosting a monthly supper club.
